Arkansas Broadcasters Association

The Arkansas Broadcasters Association (ABA) is seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to serve as its Executive Director. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will advance the ABA’s mission by supporting, advocating for, and promoting Arkansas radio and television broadcasters through government relations, member services, professional development, and industry outreach.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership, implement Board-directed priorities, and oversee the day-to-day operations of the Association.
  • Lead the Association’s primary revenue initiative, the Public Education Partnership, by cultivating and managing client and partner relationships and sustaining ABA revenue.
  • Lead legislative and regulatory advocacy efforts at the state and federal levels, and cultivate relationships with elected officials, regulators, and industry partners.
  • Oversee member services, including recruitment, retention, educational programming, conferences, and communications such as newsletters, website content, social media, and press outreach.
  • Collaborate closely with aligned stakeholders, including national and state broadcast associations and other strategic partners.
  • Manage Association staff, contractors, budgets, and financial reporting, including preparation of the annual operating budget for Board review.
  • Plan and execute annual events, professional development programs, and awards and recognition initiatives.
  • Represent the ABA publicly and serve as the chief spokesperson on issues affecting Arkansas broadcasters.

Qualifications

  • Seven or more years of progressively responsible leadership experience, preferably within a media organization, trade association, or nonprofit organization.
  • Strong knowledge of broadcast industry issues, media regulation, and public policy advocacy.
  • Demonstrated success in fundraising, sponsorship development, and revenue generation.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and public speaking skills, with the ability to build strong professional relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage staff, budgets, and complex projects effectively.
  • A strong commitment to local media and to serving the broadcaster community in Arkansas.

This position follows a hybrid work schedule, with a combination of in-office and remote work. Some travel is required.

KATV has an exciting opportunity for a Regional National Sales Assistant. If you would like to work in the exciting business of television sales, this could be the job for you!

Responsibilities include:

  • Primary function is data entry of national sales orders from national advertisers
  • Daily entry of National Sales orders into the traffic system with accuracy and complying to order contract, inventory, and scheduling constraints.
  • Daily maintenance and research on national sales orders to troubleshoot and resolve order-related issues and discrepancies
  • Regular communication and collaboration with both internal and external contacts to ensure campaign success.
  • Develop a strong understanding and adherence to the National sales process and nuances, systems, and SOPs
  • Consistent independent prioritizing and organizing of workload with a sense of urgency and balance.
  • Completion of assigned tasks within the given deadline.
  • Regular generation, manipulation, and maintenance of reports both from internal systems and Excel spreadsheets.
  • Daily use of Windows PC including Office programs such as Outlook, Teams, Excel, and Word.
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Skills and Qualifications:

  • At least 1-2 years’ experience of administrative support preferred
  • A high level of organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and multi-task
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple tasks under a deadline
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Consistently comply with organizational directives and national standard operating procedures.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for effective interaction with internal and external team members
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Word, and Excel
  • Broadcast Sales, media buying, or agency experience is a plus
  • Maintain a positive demeanor and customer service focus

Job Summary/Description:  

KAIT, Gray Television’s Number 1 station in Jonesboro, Arkansas, is searching for the next anchor/producer for the weekend evening newscasts. The ideal candidate will be energetic, passionate, and aggressive about covering the news that matters to our viewers. When not on the news desk, this anchor will investigate the issues and challenges our community faces. This person will exhibit all of the tenets of investigative journalism, including holding the powerful accountable, getting answers, and advocating for the people of Region 8.

Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

· Produce & Anchor weekend evening newscasts
· Report two days a week.
· Researching, gathering, shooting, writing, and editing news stories for on-air and online
· Completing regular franchises or special investigative reports
· Writing in a clear, concise, conversational manner
· Reporting “live” on the scene during breaking news or weather
· Developing and maintaining sources of information
· Demonstrating sound news judgment
· Participating in story selection meetings
· Posting and regularly updating stories and other material on the web and social media
· Interacting with viewers on social media
· Meeting tight deadlines and working well under pressure
· Performing other job-related duties as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements:

· Bachelor’s in journalism or related field preferred
