Career and accomplishments as an Arkansas Broadcaster

Richard came to Forrest City Broadcasting Company in 1973 and has worn every hat in the station except for engineer. Easily known as the voice of East Arkansas and especially as the voice of the Forrest City Mustangs, as he has broadcast over 500 Mustang Football games. As an announcer, he has easily conducted over 20 interviews of politicians, celebrities, business owners and civic leaders about events that have affected East Arkansas. Due to his broadcasting of Forrest City Sports, he was elected to the Forrest City Athletic Hall of Fame. (by the way, while not having anything to do with broadcasting, He was also a long time college and high school basketball official and is a member of the Arkansas Officials Association Hall of Fame as well).

Contributions to their community during their time as an Arkansas Broadcaster

Since moving to Forrest city, Richard has served as a member of the City Council of Forrest City, Chamber of Commerce President, 2 years as St. Francis County United Way President, and Forrest City Athletic Booster President for 5 years.

Contributions to our industry

Always professional, Richard has a gift. He somehow knows how to treat every guest we have ever had as though they are the most important person in the room. When you are out in our community, everyone recognizes him as the “That guy on the radio” from people with a touch of gray saying, “I remember listening to you to see if we had enough snow to cancel school “to “you used to call my name on the radio on Friday nights”. He has helped to keep radio an important medium in East Arkansas. In an age where it’s too easy to listen to something else, due to Richard’s efforts, people in our area still look to us.
