Creative Media Production with Emphasis in Sports Media (faculty position)


Position Overview
The School of Media & Journalism at Arkansas State University invites candidates to submit online applications for the position of Instructor in Creative Media Production with an emphasis in Sports Media. This is a non-tenure-track faculty position whose primary role is instructional and service oriented. The faculty member will work closely with students to produce creative media content, especially in the area of Sports Media.


Sports Media is an exciting and highly valued program in Creative Media Production. Students have the opportunity to produce and announce A-State sporting events for ESPN3 and ESPN+ as well as develop their own productions for high school and club sports. Graduates of the program are valued because of their experience and ability to showcase their talents. The Sports Media faculty position is responsible for the quality and quantity of those experiences.


Application materials will be reviewed by a faculty committee from the Creative Media Production faculty.


The successful candidate must have appropriate authorization to work in the U.S. before employment begins.


Duties & Responsibilities


• Instructors have a teaching load of 5 courses, fifteen hours per semester
• Teach a full course load within the Corporate Media Production and Sports Media emphases using traditional brick and mortar teaching and online teaching. Course reassignment of 3 hours per semester may be granted to supervise and assist extracurricular student sports productions
• Faculty member will help prepare students for sports related jobs such as university athletics
• Hold office hours, design and supervise discussion sections, laboratories, assignments and projects, and exams as appropriate to the course
• Participate in school service to include committee assignments, and other service-oriented projects
• Adhere to departmental, college and university policies
• Other duties as assigned


Required Qualifications
Evaluation of the following requirements will be made through (1) descriptions of work experience and educational experiences in letter of application, (2) record of accomplishments and productivity addressed in resume, and (3) information provided from professional references:
1. Earned Master’s degree in Mass Communication or related field.
2. Experience in a sports media production environment, including video and audio production, sports broadcasting and motion graphic content.
3. Expertise in Adobe Creative Cloud suite to include Premiere, Audition, Photoshop, After Effects.
4. Experience in teaching media production courses at the college or university level, or comparable professional experience.
5. Must submit a portfolio demonstrating a diverse body of work across multiple platforms
6. Native or near native proficiency in English.


Preferred Qualifications


1. Experience producing sports broadcasts at the collegiate level or above.
2. Prior experience teaching online media production courses at the college or university level.
